Os cinco videoclipes mais icônicos de Katy Perry que explicam o prêmio especial do VMA 2024

Katy Perry é a grande homenageada do MTV Video Music Awards deste ano!

A cantora e compositora receberá o Video Vanguard Award na premiação, realizada em Nova York, nos Estados Unidos, na noite desta quarta-feira (11).

O prêmio reconhece o impacto de videografias na cultura pop, então… nada mais justo para a artista, né? Enquanto se prepara para lançar o sexto álbum de sua carreira, chamado “143”, ela já tem uma série de visuais memoráveis. (Leu isso, Beyoncé??)

A premiação da MTV terá múltiplos shows, como Anitta apresentando uma faixa inédita. A brasileira, inclusive, concorre em três categorias, sendo que em uma delas ela é favorita, por competir com videoclipes diferentes.

A loirinha Taylor Swift é a campeã em nomeações desta edição, liderando a disputa por dez troféus, sendo seguida por Post Malone (nove) e Ariana Grande (seis).

5 – “Hot N Cold”

Desde os primórdios, ou seja, desde o disco “One of the Boys” (2008), a estrela mostra a que veio e entrega clipes divertidos, com narrativas amarradas e bem pop. Um exemplo é o hit “Hot N Cold”, em que ela vive uma noiva cansada da constante indecisão do boy.

4 – “Dark Horse”

O que é uma diva pop sem um vídeo envolvido em discussões sobre apropriação cultural? No catálogo de KP, “Dark Horse”, presente no projeto “Prism” (2013), cumpre o “requisito” ao trazer referências ao Antigo Egito. É (realmente) faraônico, com cenários, looks, maquiagem e efeitos vibrantes.

3 – “Firework”

“Firework” traz uma mensagem de acalento e empoderamento não só em sua letra, mas também em imagens. No registro audiovisual do sucesso de “Teenage Dream” (2010), sua era mais marcante, criativa e pop perfection até agora, Katy encontra e estimula a coragem para se libertar de inseguranças e brilhar como fogos de artifício no céu.

2 – “California Gurls”

Como esquecer as laces coloridas, a nuvem rosa, o mundo de doces, o sutiã de chantilly, a participação de Snoop Dogg e tantos outros elementos maravilhosos de “California Gurls”? Mais um mega hit de “Teenage Dream” e de toda a trajetória da popstar, não à toa.

1 – “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”

Ao longo dos 8 minutos de “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)”, outro estrondo do álbum “Teenage Dream”, Perry evoca seu lado brincalhão e a vibe cômica dos filmes adolescentes dos anos 80. Ela interpreta uma jovem nerd que dá uma festança na própria casa, com direito a muita bebida, música, pegação e presença de Darren Criss, Kevin McHale, Kenny G e Rebecca Black. Icônico!
